| Additional information |
Issued to mark Israel's 25th anniversary of independence, this coin was struck during one of the most politically charged years in the country's history — the Yom Kippur War broke out in October 1973, just months after the jubilee celebrations these coins were minted to commemorate. Mintage was tightly controlled, as with most Bank of Israel commemorative gold issues of the period, and the series was sold primarily through international numismatic channels rather than domestic circulation.
KM#72 is sometimes conflated with the associated silver jubilee issues released concurrently, but the gold striking is a distinct emission with its own restricted production numbers.
