Obverse description Right-facing effigy of a female head crowned with an oak wreath, rendered in high relief in a classical style. The legend REPVBBLICA ITALIANA arcs along the upper rim. The designer's name ROMAGNOLI and the engraver's signature GIAMPAOLI-INC. appear in small lettering at the lower field beneath the portrait.

Reverse description Central device depicts Vulcan, the god of the forge, shown at a three-quarter angle as he strikes iron upon an anvil, conveying themes of industrial labor and craftsmanship. The denomination L.50 appears at the right of the field, with the mint mark R positioned directly beneath it. The date 1950 is inscribed to the left of the central figure. The trial inscription PROVA IN ACMONITAL curves along the lower left rim, identifying this piece as a pattern struck in Acmonital alloy.
