Obverse description Left-facing draped bust of Italia, personified as a young woman with flowing hair adorned with an oak branch, rendered in a refined neoclassical style. The circular legend REPVBBLICA ITALIANA arcs around the upper field, separated by a central dot. The designers' signatures ROMAGNOLI and GIAMPAOLI-INC. appear in small lettering at the base of the bust. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border.

Reverse description A nude male figure, representing a blacksmith or Vulcan, stands in a dynamic pose at center, raising a hammer above his head with both arms as he strikes an anvil positioned to his left. The denomination L.50 appears in large numerals to the right of the figure, while the date 1950 is inscribed in the upper left field. The Rome Mint mark R appears below the denomination. The vertical legend PROVA IN ITALMA is inscribed along the left rim, indicating this is a trial strike in the Italma aluminium alloy. The design is framed by a beaded border.
