| Obverse description | The central field features the official emblem of the 11th European Youth Olympic Festival, comprising a stylised flame or droplet surmounted by a crescent and star — symbols of the Turkish Republic — above interlocking elliptical rings evoking a running track. Below the emblem, the legend reads 'TRABZON 2011' followed by '11th EUROPEAN YOUTH OLYMPIC FESTIVAL' and in smaller lettering 'AVRUPA GENÇLİK OLİMPİK OYUNLARI'. The denomination '50 TL' and date '2011' appear along the lower rim, flanked by a small stylised figure motif. Turkey hosted the 2011 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Istanbul — the first time a predominantly Muslim country had done so — after the city was selected by the IOC in 2007 over competition from Singapore and Moscow. The event ran from August 11 to 23 and served as only the second edition of the Youth Olympics, the inaugural having been held in Singapore in 2010.
KM#1273 is one of several commemorative issues the Darphane produced for the occasion, part of a broader Turkish mint strategy of silver collector pieces tied to international sporting events throughout the 2000s and 2010s.
