This piece belongs to Turkey's long-running series celebrating provincial cities, issued by the Darphane as part of a broader cultural documentation program that has produced dozens of regional types since the early 2000s. Uşak was historically significant as a center of carpet and textile production, while Manisa — ancient Magnesia ad Sipylum — served as the administrative seat of Ottoman princes awaiting succession to the throne, a deliberate preparation for rule that the Ottomans called the "school of princes."
