Additional information

Turkey's commemorative silver program has issued Atatürk-themed pieces with reliable regularity since the centennial of his birth in 1981, making individual entries within the series difficult to distinguish by historical occasion alone. The 2013 issue ties to no specific anniversary of particular note — the Anıtkabir mausoleum in Ankara was completed in 1953, leaving 2013 sixty years on, which is a plausible but unconfirmed hook for this striking.

The Darphane facility relocated from its centuries-old Istanbul site to a modern plant in Ankara in 2012, and early output from the new facility drew collector scrutiny for surface consistency.
