| Obverse description | Central field depicts a detailed relief of the Vuia I monoplane of 1906, rendered in fine detail against a mirror-polished proof background. Above the aircraft, the legend ROMANIA arcs along the upper border of the octagonal flan. A rectangular banner below the aircraft bears the inscription AVIONUL VUIA I-1906. The date 2001 is divided either side of the Romanian state coat of arms in the lower central field, with the denomination 50 LEI inscribed along the bottom edge. |
