Additional information

Serghei Lunchevici (1934–2018) was one of Moldova's most celebrated folk and popular singers, closely associated with the ensemble Fluieraș, which he led for decades and which became a defining voice of Moldovan musical identity during the Soviet period and after independence. He died in August 2018, and this coin was issued the following year as a memorial piece — one of the National Bank of Moldova's ongoing commemorative series honoring cultural figures.
