Additional information

Andrei Lupan (1912–1992) was a Soviet-era Moldovan poet and state functionary whose career navigated the full arc of Socialist Realism — early ideological conformity, eventual rehabilitation into the Moldovan cultural canon. This coin was issued on the centenary of his birth. Whether one reads him as collaborator or survivor probably depends on which side of 1991 the reader was born.
