Ada Zevin (1905–1983) was a Moldovan-born Soviet Jewish painter whose reputation rested largely on portraiture and genre scenes produced under the constraints of Socialist Realist doctrine. This issue is part of the National Bank of Moldova's ongoing commemorative series honoring figures from Moldovan cultural history — a program that has drawn on artists, writers, and composers with roots in the region regardless of the political circumstances under which they worked.
Zevin spent much of her career in Chișinău after World War II, when the city was being rebuilt under Soviet administration.
