Georgia's 50 Lari denomination has historically been one of the more actively redesigned notes in the series, reflecting successive modernization programs at the National Bank. The P#79 issue belongs to the 2016–2020 production window, during which the NBG was gradually updating its circulating series with enhanced but not dramatically altered security packages — watermarks being the principal feature on this issue rather than the polymer or holographic additions found on higher denominations of the same period.

Cotton substrate and a relatively restrained security profile place this note at the conventional end of Georgian issue practice for mid-range denominations.
