Angola's partnership with Goznak — the Russian state printing enterprise — dates to the post-civil war period, when the Banco Nacional was rebuilding its currency infrastructure after nearly three decades of conflict that had effectively destroyed confidence in Angolan paper money. The 2012 series reflected a stabilized kwanza, backed by oil revenues that had transformed the economy in the years following the 2002 peace agreement.

Goznak's involvement is worth noting: the Moscow facility has supplied notes to numerous African central banks, often competing directly with De La Rue and Giesecke+Devrient for contracts. The watermark-only security specification on this denomination sits at the lower end of what Goznak typically offers.
