Obverse description Central field bears a stylized Ottoman-style tughra-like calligraphic inscription in Arabic script reading 'Ankara 23 April 1336' (Rumi calendar), rendered in bold relief within a raised circular border. Above the inscription, a crescent and star emblem — the national symbol of Turkey — surmounts the composition, with the crescent opening downward and a five-pointed star at its apex. The entire design is enclosed within a fine milled border of beaded dentils running along the coin's rim.
