Issued by Eesti Pank in 2010, this coin arrived during Estonia's final year using the kroon — the currency was abolished on January 1, 2011, when Estonia became the first former Soviet republic to adopt the euro. The entire 2010 commemorative program was effectively a farewell series, making these issues the last silver coinage struck under the kroon system that had been restored in 1992 after five decades of Soviet-imposed monetary suppression.
