Obverse description Central design depicts a frontal elevation of the Althing building (the Icelandic parliament house) in Reykjavik, rendered in precise architectural detail showing the two-storey façade with arched windows, a central doorway, and a rooftop finial bearing a small decorative element. The building occupies the majority of the field. The year of issue is inscribed in large numerals below the building in the lower field.

Reverse description The denomination numeral '50' is prominently displayed in large raised figures at the centre of the coin, enclosed within a raised circular ring. The country name 'ÍSLAND' curves along the upper rim and 'KRÓNUR' along the lower rim, both in bold capital letters. Flanking the central circle on either side are symmetrical decorative panels featuring stylised geometric cross motifs inspired by traditional Icelandic design, set between concentric raised lines.
