| Reverse description | Bold right-facing bust portrait of the Czech poet and journalist Stanislav Kostka Neumann occupying the majority of the field, rendered in high relief with naturalistic detail of his aged facial features and bare head. The identifier 'S.K. NEUMANN' is inscribed in raised letters along the lower left field, with the engraver's initial 'D' appearing discreetly below. The commemorative date range '1875-1975' is placed in the upper right field, marking the centenary of Neumann's birth. |

| Additional information |
Neumann was a poet whose career traced an almost absurd ideological arc — from anarchist agitator in the 1890s to committed Stalinist apologist by the 1930s, eventually becoming a cultural figurehead the Czechoslovak communist state was happy to claim. His centenary in 1975 gave the regime a convenient opportunity to issue a commemorative coin honoring a writer whose politics had, by the end of his life, aligned closely enough with official doctrine to make him safe currency — literally.
