Obverse description The quartered coat of arms of the Czech and Slovak Federative Republic occupies the central field, displaying the Bohemian lion rampant in the upper-left and lower-right quarters, and the Slovak double cross on a three-peaked mountain in the upper-right and lower-left quarters. The date 1991 appears in the upper field flanking the shield, and the denomination 50 KCS is inscribed in large numerals below the shield. The circular legend CESKA A SLOVENSKA FEDERATIVNA REPUBLIKA runs along the rim, reading from the lower-left upward through the right side of the coin.
