| Reverse description | The reverse is composed entirely of letterpress text within a decorative border of repeated rosette ornaments. The heading in Gothic script reads "Notgeld der Marktgemeinde Zell a. d. Ybbs 50 Heller.", followed by a full paragraph in German detailing the issue terms, the total emission of 65,000 Kronen, the non-interest-bearing character of the notes, and the redemption window of 1–31 December 1920. The printer's imprint "Druckerei Waidhofen a. d. Ybbs, Ges. m. b. H." appears at the foot. |

This is an Austrian Notgeld issue — emergency small change printed by local municipalities after the collapse of the Habsburg monetary system left a catastrophic coin shortage across the former empire. Zell an der Ybbs, a small market town in Lower Austria, contracted the job to a printer in the nearby district capital of Waidhofen an der Ybbs rather than any Viennese house, which kept production costs low and turnaround fast. Rob. Schönbrunner's designer credit is unusually specific for a provincial Notgeld of this scale — most comparable issues went uncredited.
