Wampersdorf is a small Lower Austrian village, and like hundreds of similarly modest municipalities, it issued emergency paper money — Notgeld — during the severe coin shortage that followed Austria's post-war economic collapse. F. Seitenberger of Vienna printed a substantial volume of these municipal Notgeld issues in 1920, serving communities that lacked the means or connections to source printing elsewhere. The firm's output was competent but not elaborate.
The JPR reference places this within the Jaksch catalogue of Austrian Notgeld, the standard authority for these issues. At the 50 Heller denomination, it would have covered small daily transactions during a period when metal coinage had effectively vanished from circulation.
