The municipality name 'Wallsee a.D.' is set in large Gothic blackletter script beneath the header legend 'Gutschein der Gemeinde', with the denomination numeral '50' displayed within a central shield bearing a stylised fish and wave device. Wallsee an der Donau is a small market town in Lower Austria, and this note is a product of the postwar Notgeld wave that flooded the region between 1919 and 1922 — a period when chronic coin shortages and currency instability pushed hundreds of Austrian municipalities to issue their own emergency small-denomination paper. The printer, F. Rieder of Amstetten, handled a number of these local issues from the surrounding district, making him effectively the house printer for small-community Notgeld across that stretch of the Enns valley.
The designer credit to Steffi Reinelt is unusually specific for a note at this level — most comparable issues went unsigned or credited only the municipality.
