| Obverse description | A central circular vignette, bordered by a decorative ring of grapevines and foliage, presents a detailed line-art view of the Weissenkirchen church and adjacent medieval tower rising above a terraced vineyard landscape along the Danube. The denomination '50 Heller' appears in bold Gothic script at lower left and lower right, flanking the vignette, with vertical ruled line panels forming the lateral borders. Part of the vast Austrian Notgeld wave that followed the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, this 50 Heller note was issued by the market town of Spitz in the Wachau valley — one of dozens of small municipalities that printed their own emergency scrip between 1919 and 1921 when small coin circulation had effectively ceased. The Wachau series from this area became among the more collectible of the Austrian local issues, partly because of the regional identity deliberately built into them.
Ernst Sieger in Vienna handled production for numerous Notgeld commissions during this period. The designer credit to Waleria Carl Ritter is the more specific detail — individual designer attribution on small-denomination municipal scrip is uncommon enough to be worth noting.
