This note belongs to the Wachau notgeld series — one of the most deliberately artistic emergency currency programs of the postwar Austrian inflation period. The Wachau villages coordinated a regional aesthetic approach, commissioning local artists rather than commercial illustrators, which gives these small-denomination pieces an unusually coherent folk-art character. Rudolf Weber was based in Spitz itself, which shows in the intimacy of the work.
Eduard Sieger in Vienna handled a substantial volume of municipal notgeld printing in 1920–21, and the quality of registration on these runs is generally reliable. The Jaksc/Pick reference JPR1122.07IIa places this within the second series for Spitz.
