| Obverse description | Printed in red and dark blue on cream paper, the obverse is dominated by a central scalloped cartouche bearing the denomination inscription in Gothic blackletter script over the issuing authority name, surrounded by stylized floral and foliate ornaments in a folk-art manner. The four corners carry large numeral '50' devices in blue, and the border consists of a zigzag geometric frame. Below the central cartouche, a block of German text sets out the legal redemption conditions dated Vorderstoder, 30 Mai 1920, followed by two manuscript signature lines with printed signature role designations. |

Vorderstoder is a village in Upper Austria with a population that barely exceeded a few hundred in 1920 — which makes its issuance of emergency Heller notes a textbook example of how atomized Austria's Notgeld problem became after the war. The collapse of the Habsburg monetary system left municipalities of almost any size scrambling to produce their own small-denomination scrip to cover the vacuum left by hoarded and vanished coinage.
The "b" suffix in the Jaksc reference indicates a second variety within the 50 Heller denomination — likely a color or paper variant, though distinguishing the two in practice requires direct comparison.
