Obverse description Printed in purple and ochre on cream paper, the obverse carries a central oval vignette with a panoramic landscape view of Senftenberg, showing ruins of a hilltop castle at left, a broad valley with scattered buildings below, and a steeply rising hillside at right, all framed by an ornate border of grapevine tendrils. The denomination numeral '50' appears in octagonal cartouches at lower left and lower right, with the word 'Heller' in the right cartouche. To the upper right of the main design field, outside the primary border, a circular wreath medallion encloses the numeral '50', and below it the municipal coat of arms of Senftenberg is printed; at lower right, the issuance text 'Marktgemeinde Senftenberg im Kremstale am 15. Mai 1920.' is inscribed. Three manuscript signature lines for 'der Vizebürgermeister', 'Der Bürgermeister' and 'Der Gemeinderat' appear at the foot of the main panel, each bearing a handwritten signature.

Austrian municipal notgeld from the 1920 wave of small-denomination emergency coinage substitutes — Senftenberg, a small Lower Austrian market town, issued this 50 Heller note during the period when the central government simply could not produce enough fractional coinage to meet everyday demand. The postwar Austrian state was in no condition to manage its own monetary infrastructure, and hundreds of municipalities filled the gap themselves.

The Jaksch/Pick reference JPR0993d places this among a multi-denomination Senftenberg series. The "d" suffix typically distinguishes a specific color variant or printing run within that series.
