Rodaun was an independent municipality southwest of Vienna when this note was issued — it wasn't absorbed into Greater Vienna until 1938. Like hundreds of Austrian Gemeinden during the Notgeld period following the First World War, Rodaun issued small-denomination emergency scrip to address the acute coin shortage that gripped Austria from around 1919 onward. F. Seitenberg operated out of Vienna's third district and handled printing for numerous local authorities during this period.

The JPR0840IIc suffix indicates a later subvariety within the Rodaun 50 Heller series — collectors should verify the specific distinguishing feature, whether color shade, paper stock, or overprint, as Jaksch differentiates subvarieties that can appear nearly identical to the untrained eye.
