| Obverse description | Printed entirely in teal-green on cream paper, this Notgeld gutschein is set in a decorative Gothic Fraktur typeface throughout. A large octagonal vignette at centre carries the bold numeral '50' in white reserve, flanked by grapevine ornaments alluding to the wine-growing region. Two oval vignettes flank the denomination inscription 'Heller' below: the left depicts the town church tower of Retz, the right a civic building, each framed by scrolling banderoles bearing patriotic verse inscriptions; the date 'Retz, am 15 Juni 1920' and three facsimile manuscript signatures — those of the Bürgermeister, the Gemeinderat, and the Vize-Bürgermeister — appear along the lower margin. |
