| Reverse description | The reverse is entirely occupied by a large letterpress vignette set within a blue frame on a cream wavy-line underprint. The scene renders an Alpine landscape titled 'Die Steinberge', with a traditional Tyrolean farmhouse compound in the foreground and the snow-capped Steinberge mountain massif rising dramatically across the full width of the background, forested slopes filling the middle ground. |

Fieberbrunn is a small market village in the Pillersee valley of Tyrol, and like hundreds of Austrian municipalities in 1919, it was forced into issuing its own emergency Kleingeld after the collapse of the Habsburg monetary system left the new Republic of German-Austria without sufficient coin. These Gemeindegeld notes — printed locally rather than through any central banking authority — were legal only within the issuing community, redeemable in theory but often simply spent into oblivion.
Wagner of Innsbruck handled a considerable volume of Tyrolean Notgeld commissions in this period, making them one of the more prolific regional printers of the emergency issue wave.
