The denomination '50 Heller' appears in circular cartouches at upper left and upper right, flanked by Art Nouveau-style foliate scroll borders in blue-grey. The issuer inscription 'Notgeld von Ertl' is printed in a banner along the lower margin in brown.

Reverse description Plain cream-coloured surface enclosed by a repeating arc-pattern typographic border. The text is set entirely in letterpress, with the issuer name 'Kirchenbauvereines Ertl bei St Peter i. d. Au, N.-Ö.' at the top, followed by a liability clause in German, the validity date 'Giltig bis 30. Dezemb. 1920', and the facsimile signatures of J. Schönegger (Deputy Chairman) and F. Stockinger (Chairman) at the foot. The denomination 'Fünfzig 50 Heller' is set in bold type along the left margin.
