| Obverse description | Printed in brown on cream paper in an Art Nouveau idiom, the obverse carries the issuer name 'Gemeinde Anthering' in large decorative lettering at upper left, flanked by elaborate floral and scrollwork vignettes, with a nude allegorical figure reclining amid the ornamental border at upper right. The denomination numeral '50' appears within a roundel at lower left, surrounded by stylised botanical motifs, while a central cartouche presents the redemption clause in Gothic script. Anthering is a small rural commune north of Salzburg, and this 50 Heller note belongs to the vast wave of Austrian Notgeld issued between 1919 and 1922 when small coin essentially vanished from circulation after the war. Thousands of Austrian municipalities printed their own emergency fractions during this period; what separates the better issues from the generic ones is local artistic investment. F.X. Stadler's involvement here suggests the commune made at least some effort toward a distinctive design rather than commissioning a stock layout.
E. u. K. Müller operated in Salzburg and handled a number of regional Notgeld commissions. The Jaksch/Pick reference JPR0046e-50 places this within the Anthering series, implying multiple denominations were issued together.
