The American Bank Note Company held Haiti's printing contracts for decades, and this series is a product of that long relationship — ABNC-engraved work is immediately recognizable to anyone familiar with their Latin American and Caribbean output of the period. The watermark is the primary security feature, modest by any measure, which reflects the fiscal constraints Haïti operated under during the Duvalier years rather than any technical limitation on ABNC's part.

Jean-Claude Duvalier was still in power through this entire issue window, and the central bank had limited operational independence throughout.
