Obverse description The national coat of arms of Mali occupies the central field, depicting two crossed bows and arrows surmounted by a stylised rising sun at the base, with a fortified gateway (representing the Sudanese mud-brick architecture of Djenné) at centre and a vulture displayed with wings spread at the top. The arms are enclosed within a circular border. The legend REPUBLIQUE DU MALI arcs along the upper periphery, while the national motto UN PEUPLE UN BUT UNE FOI (One People, One Goal, One Faith) curves along the lower periphery. The denomination FRS. 50 appears in the exergue below the coat of arms, flanked by small five-pointed stars.
