Obverse description Central design features an ornate six-pointed star (Seal of Solomon) set within an elaborate geometric and foliate arabesque border, the whole enclosed within a circular frame. The Hijri date 1371 appears within a cartouche at the centre of the star. The legend EMPIRE CHERIFIEN arcs along the upper rim in Latin characters, while Arabic inscriptions reading the Moroccan state name and mint attribution (struck in Paris) run along the lower portion of the border.
