| Obverse description | Bare-headed effigy of King Leopold III facing left, rendered in high relief with fine naturalistic detail in the Art Deco style of engraver Marcel Rau. The legend LEOPOLD III arcs along the upper periphery in bold square-serif capitals. The date appears in the lower field beneath the truncation of the neck, and the engraver's signature RAU is incused below the date. The field is smooth and unadorned, allowing the portrait to dominate the design. |
