| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of the Republic of the Congo is displayed prominently in the center of the field, rendered in polished relief against a partially frosted background. The shield bears the characteristic blazon featuring a lion and elephant, with supporting elements flanking the escutcheon. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE DU CONGO arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 50 FRANCS CFA is inscribed along the lower border in raised Latin lettering. |

The Krugerrand format — originally South Africa's 1967 vehicle for selling gold to private buyers during the apartheid sanctions era — has since been licensed and imitated extensively for fractional bullion issues. The Republic of the Congo's entry into this market is purely a bullion play dressed in nominal CFA francs, a denomination bearing no relationship to the coin's actual gold value or to BEAC monetary policy.
