| Obverse description | Highly stylized, cubist-inspired effigy of King Baudouin I facing left, rendered in bold geometric faceted planes that fragment the portrait into angular, intersecting surfaces. The design fills the entire coin field, with the king's facial features — including his eye, nose, and ear — depicted in a strongly modernist, abstract manner. The engraver's initials 'J.P.L.' appear incuse at the bottom of the design, attributing the work to Jean-Paul Laenen. No legend appears on the obverse; the portrait alone dominates the field within a plain raised rim. |

| Reverse description | The denomination '50' surmounted by the letter 'F' is prominently displayed in the centre of the field. The country name 'BELGIQUE' arcs above in a curved legend, while the date is positioned at the bottom, flanked on either side by the privy mark of the mint master and the Angel Head mint mark of the Royal Mint of Belgium. The overall design is clean and typographic, with no additional decorative elements beyond the essential inscription and marks. |
