| Obverse description | Standing winged figure of the Republic — commonly identified as the Génie de la Liberté — depicted nearly nude, facing three-quarters left, inscribing the word CONSTITUTION on a tablet resting upon a classical column. To the left of the figure stands a fasces, symbol of civic authority, while a Gallic rooster stands to the right, emblematic of France.
