Comments

Aruba separated from the Netherlands Antilles on 1 January 1986, and the Centrale Bank van Aruba needed its own currency almost immediately. The florin was introduced that same year, replacing the Netherlands Antillean guilder at par. Enschedé, printing Dutch currency since the eighteenth century, was the natural choice — their Haarlem facility had long-standing relationships with Dutch Caribbean territories.

Evelino Fingal, an Aruban designer, was responsible for the series — a deliberate decision to root the new currency in local identity rather than outsource the creative work entirely to the printer.
