Surrounding the central inscription is a dotted inner circle, beyond which a coiled dragon in low relief encircles the design. The outer legend in Chinese characters reads 北洋造 (Pei Yang Mint) at the top, with the denomination 庫平三錢六分 (Ku Ping 3 Qian 6 Fen) at the bottom. Additional information

The Pei Yang Arsenal Mint at Tianjin was among the first Chinese facilities to produce western-style machine-struck coinage in the 1880s and 1890s, operating under the Beiyang administration of Li Hongzhang. Original 50 Fen pieces from this mint are genuinely scarce; this is a replica, and the distinction matters considerably to anyone treating the catalog entry as a purchasing guide.
