| Additional information |
Part of the Monnaie de Paris "Haute Joaillerie" series, this issue was produced in collaboration with Van Cleef & Arpels to mark the maison's 110th anniversary — the house was founded in Place Vendôme in 1906 by Alfred Van Cleef and his father-in-law Salomon Arpels. The series as a whole was an unusual exercise in treating a coin as a luxury object rather than a monetary instrument, with mintages kept deliberately low to align with the exclusivity positioning of the participating houses.
The .920 fineness is a deliberate nod to traditional French jewelry gold standards rather than the .999 purity typical of modern bullion.
