Obverse description The three ostrich feathers, traditional heraldic symbol of the Republic of San Marino, rise prominently from a crenellated battlement in the centre of the field, surmounted by a royal crown. A ribbon scroll below the battlements bears the motto LIBERTAS in incuse lettering. The date 2003 appears in the lower field, while the circular legend REPUBBLICA DI SAN MARINO runs along the upper periphery, all enclosed within a beaded border.
