Obverse description The obverse presents a bold geometric design featuring an octagonal inner frame rendered in incuse lines against a deeply mirrored field, evoking a contemporary architectural aesthetic. At the center, sprigs of olive and oak — traditional emblems of the French Republic — are depicted in relief, flanking the denomination mark 'EURO 50' in large, prominent numerals. The legend 'REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE' arcs across the lower portion of the inner frame, while the date '2018' appears vertically along the right inner border. The overall composition, engraved by Joaquin Jimenez, reflects the modern graphic style characteristic of Monnaie de Paris collector issues.

Additional information

Issued under France's longstanding legal framework permitting the Monnaie de Paris to produce collector euros with face values that bear no relation to bullion or market reality, this piece is part of a licensing agreement between the French mint and Disney — one of several collaborations begun around 2016 targeting the gift and novelty market as much as traditional numismatic buyers. The applied color is added post-strike, a process the Monnaie de Paris outsources rather than performs in-house.
