| Reverse description | Gold-plated foil reverse reproducing the first series 50 Euro note design, with a vignette of a bridge arch at left centre set against fine guilloche line work. A large outline map of Europe occupies the centre-right field, rendered in a darker contrasting tone against the gold ground. The denomination numeral '50' appears in large format at both lower left and lower right, with 'EURO' inscribed between them at lower centre. A vertical column of EU stars runs along the left margin, and a dummy serial number is printed in two positions across the note. |

Not a banknote. This is a gold-plated foil novelty item produced by various private manufacturers — most commonly German and Dutch souvenir companies — to coincide with the euro cash changeover in January 2002. It has no legal tender status, was never issued by the European Central Bank or any national central bank, and carries no monetary value whatsoever.
These pieces circulate freely on secondary markets, frequently mislabeled as "rare" or "commemorative." They are not. No catalog number applies.
