The 2019 Monnaie de Paris Eiffel Tower issue belongs to a long-running series commemorating the tower's construction, first authorized in 1989 for the centennial. The 163.8-gram format places this squarely in the French "kilo-class adjacent" collector series — technically under a kilo but struck at a weight calculated to accommodate the coin's architectural relief depth without cracking the dies.
Gustave Eiffel's original structure was granted a temporary permit in 1889 and was very nearly demolished in 1909, saved only because its antenna had become essential to Parisian wireless telegraphy.
