Additional information

Part of the Bank of Greece's ongoing series celebrating ancient Greek sites, this miniature gold issue corresponds with broader European numismatic interest in fractional gold that accelerated after 2008 as collector demand shifted toward lower-entry-point precious metal coins. Delphi, seat of the Oracle and the Panhellenic sanctuary of Apollo, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.

At one gram, the dies must be cut with exceptional precision — any drift in relief depth becomes proportionally more pronounced at this scale than on standard sovereign-weight pieces.
