| Obverse description | Central field depicts a detailed frontal view of the Forbidden City's principal ceremonial hall, rendered in fine engraved lines with a grand courtyard and flanking pavilions extending into the middle ground. Above the architectural scene, two large imperial dragons face each other in high relief, framing the upper field in a dramatic decorative composition. The legend '600 ANS DE LA CITÉ INTERDITE' arcs across the upper central field between the dragons and the roofline. In the lower field, a circular cartouche bears the Chinese inscription '紫禁城建成600年' alongside the denomination '600' and the French Republican monogram 'RF'. The date '2020' appears to the lower left within a scroll-like decorative element. |
