| Obverse description | The obverse features a detailed architectural rendering of the Tower of Belém (Torre de Belém), the celebrated Manueline-Gothic fortification situated on the Tagus River in Lisbon, Portugal, depicted in high relief occupying the left and central field. To the upper right, a fragment of ornate Gothic tracery window is shown alongside the RF monogram denoting the French Republic and the inscription '500 ans / Tour de Belém' in the field. The UNESCO logo appears at centre right, acknowledging the tower's World Heritage status.
