Reverse description The reverse presents a divided composition commemorating the centenary of Maurice Maeterlinck's celebrated play 'L'Oiseau Bleu'. The left half of the field displays ornate Art Nouveau ironwork panels rendered in fine relief, evoking the theatrical and symbolic aesthetic of the period. To the right, a bird in full flight is depicted with detailed feathering, symbolising the eponymous Blue Bird of happiness. The centennial dates '1908 2008' appear to the right in the upper field. The legend 'MAURICE MAETERLINCK' arcs along the upper border, while 'L'OISEAU BLEU - DE BLAUWE VOGEL' curves along the lower periphery in French and Dutch.
