The A380 program was, by 2017, already showing signs of the commercial strain that would eventually force Airbus to halt production in 2019. Launched with enormous optimism as the world's largest passenger aircraft, it found few buyers outside of Emirates. The Monnaie de Paris issued this piece as part of its ongoing French Excellence series celebrating domestic industrial achievement — a series that has a habit of commemorating things at precisely the moment their futures become uncertain.
