| Obverse description | The obverse, designed by Hannu Kettunen, features three figurative profiles rendered through the innovative use of negative space. At left, the silhouette of an aged war veteran appears in relief, while the negative space simultaneously reveals a soldier's profile at right — a compositional device symbolising the near-total passing of Finland's 1939–1945 war generation, who live on only in collective memory. The soldier's profile rendered in negative space further expresses the aspiration that no new veterans of war should ever emerge. At the far right, the positive profile of a young person is depicted, representing the nation's future and the hope of perpetual peace. The obverse legend SUOMEN VETERAANIT FINLANDS VETERANER 1939 1945 arcs across the field in Latin script. |

| Reverse description | The reverse presents a stylised and deliberately distorted rendition of the Finnish national flag. The flag's cross motif is depicted with a fractured, irregular outline and a jagged, uneven surface texture, serving as a visual metaphor for the destruction and sacrifice endured during wartime. The design elements are rendered within the bimetallic field, with the gold centre and silver ring contributing to the overall chromatic contrast. The reverse legend includes the denomination 50€, the dual-language country name SUOMI FINLAND, the designer's initial K, and the year of issue 2025, inscribed in Latin script. |
