| Obverse description | The obverse features a refined, unadorned effigy of Queen Beatrix facing left, designed by Bruno Ninaber van Eyben in a restrained contemporary style. The portrait occupies the central field and is surrounded by the twelve stars of the European Union arranged in a ring. The circular legend BEATRIX KONINGIN DER NEDERLANDEN runs along the outer border, with the year of issue appearing below the portrait.
